@Fighterflynn: Flynn and Melo

How it began...

Flynn was rescued in 2014 by Stephanie Ivankovich after being found wandering the streets, alone, as a puppy.

"She was super shy and sweet, and absolutely terrified of men. Stephanie recalled. "We bonded and she overcame her trauma."

In May 2020, Flynn broke her back two legs after jumping on a bed and landing in an awkward position. "She became paralyzed and her back two legs stopped working." Stephanie said. After emergency surgery, it was a little over a month before Flynn was able to walk again.

In the middle of Flynn's recovery, Stephanie noticed a bump on her sweet, furry friend's eye that kept getting bigger. "At one of her check-ups, I asked the vet what it was. She was diagnosed with aggressive salivary gland cancer," Stephanie said.

In the middle of 2020 Flynn had a surgery to remove the cancer, it had spread at an aggressive pace causing her to lose an eye, two bones in her face and a lymph node.

A year after Flynn's surgery, Stephanie had a health crisis of her own and Flynn never left her side. She returned the favor by supporting her mom through a hard time just like she had supported her. "She brings me so much joy and she means the whole world to me."

They have been through all the highs and lows of life together.

Flynn is now 9 and enjoying her life to the fullest with her blue heeler brother Melo by her side.

High Country Basset Hound Rescue

High Country Basset Hound Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare and care of abandoned and unwanted Basset Hounds in Colorado.

The shelter receives bassets for a variety of reasons; employment relocation, owner death, extended family not wanting them, strays picked up at the shelter but not claimed, new babies, irresponsible breeding, old age, neglect, abuse, and so on.

They are entirely run by volunteers who have a common bond of saving Basset Hounds.

Rescue Tale will donate 10% of proceeds to High Country Basset Hound Rescue.
