@Gus___calhoun: Gus

 How it began...

Gus is a 12-year-old rat terrier that no one wanted because he was the runt of the litter. Ever since his owners took him in, he has been very shy and timid. It wasn't until about five or six years ago that his teeth started showing. Now he always has the cutest smile on his face. When it comes to playing with other dogs, he prefers to run around on his own. However, he is protective of their other dog, Winston.

Gus has become quite a star over the past few years. He even appeared in the Daily Star UK. The article claimed he looked like Freddie Mercury. Gus's owner Malika said, "He can't sing like him, but he can cry and whine."

Gus has brought so much joy to social media and continues to brighten people's days with his infectious smile.

Gus's Rescue of Choice:

Animal Welfare Institute

Since 1951, the Animal Welfare Institute has alleviated suffering inflicted on animals by humans. Christine Stevens founded the Animal Welfare Institute to end cruelty in experimental laboratories. Her work expanded to other animal welfare causes. These include preventing animal extinctions due to anthropogenic causes, reforming methods used to raise animals for food, banning steel-jaw leghold traps, ending commercial whaling, and much more. Christine supported wildlife management programs that were “win-win” situations—such as highway underpasses to facilitate wildlife movements, wildlife birth control, beaver bafflers to minimize or prevent beaver-caused flooding, and perching platforms that protect raptors from electrocution.

Rescue Tale will donate 10% of proceeds to Animal Welfare Institute.
